Productivity During School

Staying focused during school can be a challenge, especially because of the long school hours. However, there are ways to help stay focused in class and tune out all of the distractions. Keep reading for tips to stay productive throughout the school day.

Food & Water

Bringing extra snacks can increase your attention span, which increases concentration in class. I always bring extra food in case I get hungry, or if I feel like I need a little extra focus. I also noticed that when I have food with me, I’m not focused on what lunch is or when I can eat my next meal. This allows me to be fully engaged during instructional time.

Planner

Agendas and planners are the best products to keep me organized and on task. Sometimes we forget we have important responsibilities and commitments to attend to, so it’s best to invest in a planner and write down all important dates as well as assignment tasks. That way it’ll be easier to remember important events, and it can help with completing assigned homework in a timely manor.

Talk

Make sure to talk in class and make friends with some of your classmates. This can come in handy when you need clarification on a concept or some help with finishing a class assignment. I always make sure to have at least 2 friends in every class because it makes my learning experience better. I also learned that when I talk in class and actively engage in what’s being taught, my interest in the topic increases, which in turn, keeps me focused in class.

Limit Social Media

During school, it’s very tempting to scroll on social media during instructional time. However, it’s a good thing to limit social media use during school to prevent getting carried away on social media, neglecting assigned work. I learned that when I cut off my social media use during school hours, I can get all my classwork and some homework done efficiently. My mind is also less cluttered, since I’m not consuming it with social media. This has helped me focus on the assignment that’s in front of me, rather than something I saw on Instagram.

The school year is about to start (or has already started for some), and these tips can help you start school on the right track. School can get repetitive and exhausting, but it’s the little things that we implement in our schedules that can help us do great at school this year!
